Din't think I'd be back did you you!
I was reflecting on how the years pass very quickly and I was reading back on all my posts for my directing class last semester at Central institute of technology. But most of all I was reflecting on all the friends I had made, lost and found again through my TAFE years.
It is doubtful anyone will be reading this and since I've already passed my diploma of film I don't need to update this blog. But I am anyway! Because this Sunday I was board and started writing! What ya got against it!
I had a great time studying film. When I began my studies after leaving high school in 2010 (halfway through my eleventh year of graduation) I had high aspirations for my future. Not only my future but my immediate future, by twenty I wanted to be behind the camera making stories for the world. I haven't changed my big ideas yet but this time I have shifted my focus onto music. Having just finished a certificate IV in music at leederville. But my big ideas brought me something more valuable then a career. It was the interesting and overall unique people I had met over those years.
I began studying film halfway through 2011 and it was off to a good start, I had plans to make a vampire movie and was well on focus. But then I met people who would become close friends to me in those few years and I was distracted as any teenager would be by the world in general, relationships, people and parties and drinking etc. So much so that my focus on my career faded into the foreground and my general laziness helped keep it there. But I was very fond of these people so much so that my aspirations to become more of a writer than a visual painter, working in a huge crew etc., were not enough to stop me from applying again for certificate IV and then again for the diploma of film. The other thing was I really loved film. I enjoy, to this day watching film, the places they transported my young mind were limitless. The downside is of course life is generally on a smaller scale and my aspirations are still ultimately unrealistic as I work every Saturday (not in complacency mind you i'm not against the work at all) at woolworths.
But the dreams of mine never seem to die the only problem is my aspirations have always been bigger then my ability to carry them out. I know a few cats who have succeeded in both industries well above me, that is in music and film, and are getting paid to do it. But money was never important to me, it was more the ability to share my creativeness as others do. It is way too tricky for a person like me these days, maybe there was a year where I would achieve at least mild recognition but that year has either passed or doesn't exist yet.
The other problem was just simply not having enough talent to be successful in either mediums but that's a whole other issue I have.
But yes the years do pass and here I am blabbing to the zero people who will read this, but just like my music and my writing, it will most likely remain average and unappreciated, but ya never know! that's what I always say. I am indifferent to most normality in life, family a steady income etc. but it's hard to get a commonplace world to grasp that concept. But it will be my philosophy till the end, that is, dream big, do what ya wanna, don't take no shit.
Cheers filmies
People of the past etc.
Bye bye film blog
Adios amigos

Well....LA DI DA!!!!
So on Monday I will try my hand at getting on the "Adavanced Diploma's" good side, if they in fact have a good side (some im not so sure about :o). I will be assisting in lighting and the video split (in short, plugging in a cord omg!!) I think it will be an interesting shoot, it will be fun to see how the advaced dips work together...and how they get along with us lowly dips.
The week ahead will have alot of mornings where I will hear my alram clock beeping and look at the time and say....ah screw it, its ten minutes fast...
I also have to strech my creativity for the "Brother Boy" comercial project and have three ideas so I better get cracking on that!!! wouldn't you say!!!??? "Brother Boy is a line of male clothing products which are targeted specifically to the indigenous population of Australia. Our task as film makers is to come up with a short advert idea that will promote the product on thier webpage.
My ideas are coming, just with some more tea and focus in the next few days!! I'm off now, I have to see a man about a horse...keep watching the films!!!!

The fast times of CIT
This past week there have been some very dramatic occurrences at TAFE...CIT... Respectively, that I am convinced a good book or TV series can be centred around the institution. I did manage to catch the directing class this past week and our overview of networking (dull but necessary to the business, the who you know not what you know thing) was not nearly as dramatic an occurrence as what happened while filming "Gob Smacked", the office of road safety project, on Thursday.
I suppose all the trails and tribulations we suffered on that day just goes to show us filmies that our job is not an easy one. But as I sat in the crowd of extras (as 2nd AD I jumped in to be an extra at the last minute) I thought to myself "If I was getting paid for this...I'd have to give the money back"
Chow for now

My Lateness
So yes I was about ten minutes late to my lecture last Monday...hey give me a brake I missed the bus. I went into the lecture by this Mark guy (yeah i have seen cyber girl and knew who he was, also he's my friend on Facebook :) ) and he looked at me with disdain and was saying something about therapy for some unknown reason and he looked and me and said "you look like you need a lot of it". So basically I took the picking on for the rest of lecture because of my shameful lateness.
But what I learned was interesting how this guy's dream was to work in a television studio rather than work on tv. He has directed x amount of hours if drama television (including cyber girl :) ) and got there by chance. He knew someone in the industry and got...randomly the job as a first AD on a crime show set. It made me think even if its firstly what you know, who you know is a close second in this industry.
I enjoyed his second class a little more and there was certainly less evils given to me because i was, in fact, on time.
So I have to sleep now because if I don't I wont wake up and will undoubtedly miss yet another lecture and be the victim yet again!!!!
Au revoir bloggers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAAH
HAHAHAHAhaahahahahahahah...ha .....ha. If you haven't noticed I'm laughing. I'm laughing at my own laziness because I started this blog so well and in the last moth or so...well...iv been off in the clouds, trying to focus on my Central Institute of Technology (sounds way better then CIT and/or TAFE...the moment you say TAFE now days...you sound like a bogan) work that I forgot about one of the things I most enjoyed this semester, writing this blog for all you filmies out there.
I've enjoyed attempting the completely subjective/objective assignment, I had alto of fun filming that one. OK it wast completely subjective (subjective being completely from the POV of a character and their reaction shots), but I think it was a good attempt anyway (if I do say so myself :) :) :) :D
So here it is for your viewing pleasure. Turn the lights down and enjoy the magic!!!!

Where the blogginghell have you been?
Well my blogging has taken a back seat these past few weeks because the forces of my life have been out of balance! GASP!!!! Literally, but it is time to get back on track and DIRECT (pun intended wink wink) all you readers...(yes this is a long shot assumption to say readerS and not reader) to the genius of Mr. Chris Richards-Sculley's directing class.
We are presently gearing up to make a short film in an all Subjective fashion, that is everything being from the point of view of a character in a scene. Objective is everything outside that person's, or object's POV eg. wide shots of two people talking or an over the shoulder shot or "dirty two shot".
It was interesting to find out that these two ways of filming are very much separated and thought out by film makers. It is also...to me extremely complicated and I will most probably fail at my attempt to make a completely subjective short film...but its worth a shot..(no that pun was not intended).

Who should act in my most awesomest masterpiece?
So in directing with Chris Richards-Scully today we watched some scenes from another Ridley Scott film, one I haven't seen, "Kingdom of Heaven" written by that guy who wrote the Departed, or rather adapted it from a Japanese film and won an Oscar for it....yeah that guy... and we watched Ridley rehears with his actors and talk about casting his movie on the DVD special edition.
So he seems to be very relaxed and laid back when rehearsing, he is a man of few words, but those words count. To me that is what a good director should be. Not this loud mouth with a mega phone, sorry Michael Bay, I do wish you all the best with your up and coming update of "The Ninja Turtles". He/she should be calm and be ready to help the actors out as much as they can, because contrary to popular belief acting is a very hard job and your pretty much putting everything out there for the world to see. Good acting is rare and when its there its good and that will be partly due to the directors....direction if you will.
Now excuse me, its 12: 55, after drinking an Ice coffee I wont be able to sleep for a while but I'm going to try.
